Procedures for Industrial Training ( For Students of FHTM Only)

1.Student Affairs department will conduct industrial training briefing for all final semester Diploma and Degree program students. In the briefing session, students will be informed on rules and regulations, duration of I.T, placement, resume and I.T report.

2.The students will be given I.T Placement Requisition Form and Resume template.
Students will fill-up, first the Online Registration Form. Then the I.T. Placement Requisition Form (available from the Student Affairs Dept). In order to complete the form, the student must get:
(i) Recommendation from a lecturer of their discipline of study. The lecturer will automatically be the industrial training supervisor for the student.
(ii) Verification from Finance & Account Department. Student must settle all outstanding amounts of fee.
(iii) Verification from Academic Administration. Student must pass all subjects.
(iv) Approval of Deputy Dean Student Affairs. Student who meets the requirements will be given the approval.
If the student does not fulfill the requirements, they must complete the requirements and fill-up the I.T. Placement Requisition Form again.

3.Student is required to identify and select two I.T companies of their choice. They are given 1 week to complete the form and to submit along with their resume.

4.Upon receiving the completed I.T Placement Requisition Form, Student Affairs will send Application Letter to the selected I.T company.
If the I.T company rejects the application, Student Affairs will request placement from the second choice.

5.The I.T company will send Acceptance Letter of successful application to faculty.

6.Student will be informed on successful application.

7.Student is allowed to register at VOISS.

8.Student Affairs will update student’s performance with I.T company and student through phone call. This will be done after 2 weeks of the training.

9.Deputy Dean Student Affairs will appoint supervisor as to conduct visitation and to submit a report.
Visitation will be done after 4 weeks of industrial training.

10.If the feedback requires action and improvement, student and I.T company will be informed as to advise them to take corrective measures.
If the feedback does not require action or improvement, student will continue the training until completion.

11.Student completed industrial training for a period of 3 months or 12 weeks.
Upon completion of industrial training, student will request Student’s Performance Report from I.T company. This performance report carries 40% of overall marks.

12.Student will prepare Industrial Training Report. The report must contain the followings: Company Profile, Summary of Duty/Task at each department, Problem Analysis, Analysis on working system and Conclusion.
Standard: 2 weeks to complete the report after date of training completed.

13.Student will arrange appointment for presentation with respective supervisor. The completed Industrial Training Report will be submitted to supervisor along with the Log Book and Student’s Performance. The report carries 30%, the log book carries 10% and the performance carries 40%.

14.Student will present his/her industrial training experiences and findings.

15.Supervisor will evaluate the presentation. Presentation carries 20%, the breakdown of the marks are as follows: Personal Grooming 2%, Company Knowledge / Skills Acquired 10%, Delivery 3% and Q&A session 5%.

16.Student Affairs will calculate all the marks from Presentation, Report Book, Log Book and Student’s Performance Report and grade will be generated.
